Too heavy for 11hh pony??

If I get a pony for my daughter, I want to be able to occasionally ride it/school it. I do not intend to ride the pony constantly, just to test it out at first, maybe for 20 mins at a time. I also want to be able to take it out in the bush/trails/road by ourselves, with me riding.

Unfortunately I am in no way a dainty creature. I am 5'8" tall and 60kg.

My daughter is only 4 so 13hh is too big...

What size do you think?

:D

I am no expert but I think it depends largely upon to type of pony ... eg. riding pony vs. welshie vs. highland pony

I saw a little icelandic pony once he was only 12 or 13 hands and his rider would have been the same height/weight as you, no worries at all.

60kg is not too heavy IMO if you are a balanced rider, and, as the above says the pony has some good substance and bone. I would be worried if its younger than about 4 tho and is still finding its on balance and developing bone.
