Facial markings puzzle - Foal to Weanling

Hey, knowledgeable breeders of bling!

I know that white facial markings don't grow at the same rate as the foal grows - what do you think about these pictures - from new foal to weanling - could the bottom 2 be older pics of the young foal?? (These are the only pics I have)

These 2 are of a known foal 6 weeks apart.

Could this foal have started with a crooked blaze that separates into star and snip in 3 months?

Certainly looks like it could be to me, Lollyem.

The 'Mystery new foal pic' is a bit small to get a really good look at, but if I put my goggle-eyes reading glasses on I'm pretty sure that the blaze pattern is close enough to indicate it is the same foal.

I'd like to see those markings clipped :) From those pics alone, I wouldn't pick any of them as being the same horse. Not just from the separation of the star to stripe, but also the markings around the nostrils are very different. I quite like the left weanling's nose marking, it looks like a loveheart  But on the right....it doesn't

I am with Wattle... I wouldn't actually say the two bottom photos are of the same foal! But you say they definitely are? White markings can stretch or lose white hairs as the foal grows but not that significantly in a 6 week period that I have seen.

Bottom 2 definitely the same foal. I guess I'll never know - the top pic was sourced from a couple of degrees of separation from the bottom pic. Thanks for your input!

I still recon all 3 pics are of the same foal ;)

Obviously the bottom 2 are because Lollyem has confirmed it and there are just so many points of similarity with the 1st pic.

Maybe the foal will eventually end up looking like the 1st pic - will be interesting to see! :))

Lollyem, surmising that all those photos are the same foal. First pic would be fluffy foal coat. 2nd pic (left) would be after the first foalcoat shed, and the markings are most similar except the very nose. That might be light hitting the end of his nose though? Hard to say unless you took the photo. I've got one similar of my no-markings buckskin. The third pic would be fluffy again, so the white hairs are longer, joining the markings back up. You'll definitely be able to know a lot more clearly by clipping the markings or waiting for a mature coat :)

Neo only a few hours old. I had to go back outside and check he didn't have a pink splotch on his nose

Its an intriguing situation. Just keeping an eagle eye on an operation funded by taxpayer donations that may not be being very transparent about origins of some of their gee gees....

I had a liver and ticked German Wirehaired Pointer who had a well-defined circular liver spot in her white blaze on top of her head at 2 weeks old, but by 8 weeks old the spot had blended into both sides of the solid liver of the rest of her head and blocked the white blaze totally. You could see it was still the same spot, with white blaze either side in front and behind, but it had grown in comparison to the white so yes I do think white markings can do odd things in short spaces of time, at least in dogs!

Cheers.
