When I worked in the city the amount the club spent on saddle fitting was just outrageous. Especially as the riders rarely progressed past the trot. I am no expert by any means but, the feral bush ponies with ancient saddles rode a whole lot better than the city ponies with new saddles religiously fitted every 3-6 months. So I guess I am with you @Eoroe and @Hen. The basic fitting knowledge is generally adequate for the horses that are ridden and competing regularly.
