The top 11 finalists in the 2020 NRCHA World's Greatest Horseman competition battled it out in the cow work for the championship on Feb 22nd. John Swales riding Metallic Cat Rose (Metallic Cat x Teletrona), owned by Jerry & Nicole Meyer of Foothills, AB, Canada, took the win with a smoking 227.5 fence run culminating in an overall score of 878.5! The duo marked a 217.5 in the herd, 218.5 in the rein work and a 215 in the steer stopping to win the $42,000 purse.

The reserve championship was split between Kelby Phillips riding Duals Lucky Charm (Dual Smart Rey x TRR Ms Pepcid Olena) for owners Mike & Robyne Stewart of Munday, TX and Jake Telford riding Sparktilion (Shining Spark x Cattilion) for owner Michelle Cannon of Waxahachie, TX. Each team marked an 871.5 to take home $22,500.

The remaining top 8 finalists of the initial record-breaking 69 entries were Ben Baldus riding Playin Motown (Mrplayinstylish x Mo Flo) owned by Catelyn Walker, Todd Bergen riding Smartly Starstuck (Very Smart Remedy x Katie Starlight) owned by McSpyder Ranch, Boyd Rice riding Quahadi (Bet Hesa Cat x Ginnin Attraction) owned by Burnett Ranches LLC, Randy Paul riding Lenaliltothewright (Lenas Wright On x Shining Survivor) owned by Linda Katz, Shawn Hays riding Red River Rivalry (Soula Jule Star x Shiners Miss Lena) owned by Tammy Jo Hays and Walter Greeman, Chris Dawson riding Shine Smarter (WR This Cats Smart x Shiney Tari) owned by Linda A.
