Great idea! I'll do it. I'm not riding yet, but have started doing some light groundwork today, so i'll take it from today. Although can't guarantee i'll be out there when it's meant to be 37 and 39 this week

Just commit to every day for 9 days and then set a new goal for the next round
If you can't do every day, then do it as regularly as you honestly can, eg if you only can get to your agistment every 2nd day, then make it every 2nd day.
The main thing is to stop making excuses why you aren't riding every day for 9 days and just get to it!

Well done Sil for trying to get people motivated!!!
I told myself the exact same thing last week! I find getting up in the morning and riding so its all over and done with is an excellent way of doing it because I find if you plan to rider later in the day you may be rushed for time, too tired or its too hot!
I've not ridden 5 times this week (I rode today to make up for Monday ) and back to every week day morning next week with the same attitude as you! NO excuses!

Hmmm, something to consider. I also struggle to get to ride - Joya is in Wanneroo, which is almost an hour's drive away, or half an hour from work. But I might try for at least twice this week - 3 times if all goes well. And then try to make that at least twice a week, every week...
Motivation! Yeah!

Raindear - you in the hills of perth (mundaring area)? I got a little fatty-poombah that isn't doing much atm if you wanted to have a play

Well, I officially kicked off my 9 day challege today. Will hopefully be able to ride every day except wed and thurs due to after school comitments.
My goal is to get smooth, balanced transitions walk/trot/canter without her head coming up.

Why 9 days? seems a random number LOL
9 days straight is far too much for a horse not already in hard work IMO
I find 4 days per week is great for progress and happy horse and rider.
I would be joining in but my saddle is probably getting taken away tommorow, so would be pointless LOL
My goal is to be able to canter smoothly and in some sort of decent frame (for a green horse) in 2 weeks, have a comp coming up and canter is ummm interesting
I think it would be great to have before and after pics though!

I really want to do this
I will have to start either tomorrow or tuesday though.
Rahni decided not only to go fencing (which have now finally in the clear for riding)
but now he's pulled a chunk out of his hoof.
THIS HORSE IS SO ACCIDENT PRONE!
Farrier is out, if i can get hold of him, and take him away from his girlfriend for ten minutes, just to file off the points, so they can't catch on anything.
I have pony club sunday,
so that extra work will make up for wednesday not being to ride due to a perth excursion with school.
Beach swim and a walk around the cross country is going to class as a couple of days too.
rahni isn't used to that much hard work yet
fantastic idea sil,
can we do this every two weeks?
haha

I started my twice-a-week challenge today - total flop! Joya was in a total pig of a mood, didn't want to do anything! And yet, she was so happy to see me, even neighed when I got the tack out, but once I was on, she was lazy as sin.
In the arena she was being ridiculous - the best I managed was to do some inward-spiralling circles at a walk until she was actually bending her neck and body instead of imitating a plank of wood.
I was determined to finish on a good note, so we went into the building site next door and had a nice straight controlled canter, then I called it a day.
I'll aim for Thursday for my second ride.
