After I outgrew my first pony (many many years ago) my Dad wanted me to get a horse that he could ride

So I got a 15hh, 3 year old Trakehner x New Forest that I HATED I had had him for almost 2 years before a dog attacked him when I was riding bareback and I was badly injured...

A bystander put me back on him and he took me home - not the normal "charge of the light brigade" (dinner time) - but a very gentle wander. The agistment owner looked up the road as she expected me home to see my horse almost tip toeing along with a semi conscious rider!

That horse looked after me when I needed it most - one shy would have left me on the ground down very narrow counrty lanes and I could have easily been killed - from that moment I had a huge respect for him...and we bonded in a way that I would never have expected before....

Nice thread OBHH!
Our two corners -
Training to self-load onto float (what a wonderful feeling that was!!!)
Nothing like knowing your horse will walk quietly aboard after needing help whenever going out.

And being able to get two canter leads, mostly the correct ones, most of the time!

Now to higher ambitions...
