Yeah I'll get back into the showing this summer, just gotta get rid of that evil winter coat....

Whats your horse's race name? Im assuming he's a STB too? I might know of him.

What shows do you take him too?

If you know Mal Barber, he actually bred him, he won 16 races and his next show will be the northam Ag. You can always e-mail me privately if you want to find out more about him or showing standardbreds.

Really, I used to use Malcom as a farrier, he's such a nice guy. Didnt know he bred pacers though.

there is a list for standardbred owners. You should join, it is a bunch of people who own s/bs and there are some very knowledgable people on there. If you are interested I could fish the address out for you.

Is this a list for any s/bred owners or for people who only race them?

Hi I have had a few ex pacers along the way in my horse carrier so I hope my little bit of experience will help. The best way to train the canter and a natural trot I found was to work the horse in heavy sand like beach or freshly ploughed fire break or even long grass also , up hill or shallow water .The reason being its easier for the horse to canter under load then pace and they have to pick there feet up a bit better than just normal flat ground so makes them try more. Its also better to try and jump from a walk to a canter like a cowboy lol than try and trot first to try miss the pacing stage . When you have that horse cantering its doesnt matter if its fast because as long as its doing the correct motion you then practise slowing that horse down to a nice steady canter and the more you practise the better it will get . Now if your horse needs to learn how to trot naturally not pace the down ward transtion is always easier for some reason to train the trot also . So skip the upward transition for a while and train the canter and trot on downward transition and do lots of miles .Hope this helps in some way .........Dave
