IMO age of the horse, stallion or not is not what matters (unless they are too young)Its the age and experience of the trainer!!!! so shop around and go for it give that little pony something to do

Is cutting costs and learning something more important than correctly breaking this pony in though? All horses are different and if you haven't had alot of experience in breaking you or the pony could end up seriously hurt. One of the horses my partner is breaking in at the moment you would never believe it's only been ridden a handfull of times (Scarlet, if her owner is reading ) Where as others will practically try to kill you. Perhaps send it to a breaker for a day first to get a proffessional opinion?

Yes, as others have said, should be no problems, except you will have to find someone small and experienced to do the follow-up saddle work.
I bought an 11.2 hh 12 year old palouse stallion, almost untouched but fairly friendly so we had him gelded and we broke and educated him over about a year.
He is now perfectly safe for most small riders.
I just wish I had seen the horseproblems guy's method of mouthing at that time, there would have been a much better and quicker result than the method I used.
Good luck.

I don't think it's too late - I gelded my 9yr old thoroughbred stallion last year.

He hadn't been ridden since he was a 2yr old and then when they realised he wasn't going to make a racehorse, they dumped in a 100 acre paddock - until they decided they didn't want him in anymore and were going to shoot him. He had a lovely nature as a stallion and if anything he has just mellowed out a little more. If you have the patience and take lessons then there's no reason why you can't do it yourself - if you find it's too much for you then send him to someone who can help (just make sure you ask for help before it's too late tho!)

You also have to consider the other aspects of that though horsey girl (ie; the horse was dumped in a paddock for years). If the stallion has been handled regularly then it shouldn't be too bad, but if you haven't had the experience, a proffesional would be the way to go.

i recon u should geld him but sometimes gelding a aged stallion can go the oppisit way sometimes been his age it will take time and effot to break him in give him a few weeks or a month to do so. i recon you might have a good lil pony there. i have broken in a few ponys for people and they can be more bash full then horses it self. ok cutting cost there are plenty good people that will help you but dont do it youre self . specialy if you are gelding him he will still have that stallion instinked and he might get nasty. its your own risk. if i wasnt going to qld next friday i could come and do it my self and not charge you for it. look into it first and see what ure options are first.
