Well i guess he is getting alot of fibre... probably enough that he really shouldnt be scouring... perhaps take his temp and then call your vet and explain the situation... might just need a check up.

You need to get fluids (electrolites) into your horse as he is loosing alot of fluid and i suggest you take him off his hard feed and call the vet!

I had a mare a few weeks ago that had diarrhoea which went for a couple of weeks also, I rang my vet and after eliminating new growing grass, rye grass in the hay, sand problems, he suggested that I might have a red worm problem even though mine are regulary wormed... he suggested worming every day for 6 days with Panacur and on the 6th day with Equest, I couldnt get Panacur so used Equest for all 6 and she is now okay..I suggest you ring your vet as it is not normal for adult horses to have diarrhoea

Worm egg counts are a good way of monitoring your worm control programme to see how well the treatments are working and to prevent a build up of worms on pasture that can infect horses and allow large burdens of immature worms to accumulate in the gut wall

hey there, i have just had a similar problem. Has he been sandlubed? Are you feeding anything different? Does he have ulcers?

Just started mine on ulcer stuff (clean up) and no diahorrea for 2 days.

Default this works

hiya, if you go to a natural shop and buy slippery elm powder and feed 3 tablespoons a day for the coarse of a 1 kg bag it works. also it lines the stomach and acts like those little shots you get in the supermarket with pro biotics.

it is about 99.00 a kg but worth it. i feed out to all my horses on the change of grass and seasons. also helps elminate colic in horses that are prone to this.
