Default Experience using chiropractors or others practitioners - girthiness

Thanks to all who gave me advice regarding my horses extreme girthiness and pain around shoulders etc. One of the suggestions which has come from a couple of sources is 'misaligned' ribs which it seems can be assisted through manipulation. Can anyone tell me if they have found a good practitioner to help with this chiropractor, bowen etc, and your experiences with helping with this problem through this therapy. If you know of a good practitioner could you please pm me. I am in the Baldivis area.
Thanks

Ribs are fused but flexible. I highly doubt they can become misaligned, unless the horse has sustained fractures.

Cinchiness can be saddle pain, not properly started or the horse is just cinchy. Use a professionally fitted saddle and girth up every time in 4 stages before mounting. Do it slowly and walk between girthing stages.

Bowen does help greatly to relax those sore muscles and reduce pain.

You probably have found an answer to your problems now, but you may like to know Kevin Kelly comes to the Baldivis area every Tuesday.
He does like to be ever so early, though.

I can also recommend Kevin Kelly or Chad Donovan, though with girthiness it is generally just time and care which can fix it.

We bought a mare in 04 had previously had a badly fitting saddle and was extremely girth- would try and bite or kick as soon as the saddle went on and girth was lifted (we had our saddle properly fitted). So all we did was just do everything slowly until she learnt that there wouldnt be pain.

By that i mean we would put the saddle on and leave her with it for 5 mins, do the girth up on the lowest hole on both sides and leave it, then up 1 notch each side and leave, etc etc.

Now she is a happy horse who we still go slow with to girth but you can now put the saddle on and do up the girth to where it is touching her with no reaction, of course we leave it like that for a little bit before tightening and just still go slow with it and have a happy horse.

If we have new people out who go to do it a bit firmer then she wants at the time all she does is a slight head raise and they wait.

I have recently purchased a Peter Horobin anti girth wool girth (mouthful) I had read about them on a dressage site and everyone was raving. It really has made a difference and I feel my boy is stretching out more and more comfortable and for $69.95 worth it. His is habit as i believe he has had the girth ripped up by a previous owner when he was contract mustering I had everything else checked out

Oh and my friend showed me how to do a bowen move on the girth area so I do that before putting his saddle on...........he still gets cranky but less so after a year.............hoping he will drop it over time

i would be careful with anyone who is not qualified to do chiropractic stuff -- bones arent there just to be cracked into place --- margo seneque is a veterinary chiropractic and is VERY good ... she goes all over the place and i think actually lives down baldivis way

I have spent thousands on bowen and chiropractor for my horse and have found the only person that has made any significant improvement to him has been Sean Millar. He is an absolute miracle worker. I cannot tell you how good he is he is brilliant and boy did I have problems with my horse and with 1 session with Sean he had him 100% right. 1 session compared to god knows how many bowen sessions with 3 different bowen ppl. My horse would constantly rest his right hind leg and no matter how many sessions with bowen he would still do it so then I got chiropractor and the problem was still there so then I tried Sean and he hasn't done it since. There were other problems too and he fixed them. He is cheap as. He advertises in Hoofbeats but if you want his details PM me. I can guarantee you won't be dissappointed.
