this was linked in another forum. i think it's very powerful & a timely reminder of how lucky we are to live in Australia. It also makes me think about the revolutionary things women in the past did, to achieve the rights & freedoms which so many of us languish in today.

No one in this World should have to live like that!!!!
Some of these religions piss me off!!!!!!
Who has the right to tell us as an Individual what we Can & Cant do!!!!
I really hope somehow some miricle this poor young girl gets to live HER DREAM
This should NOT be happening!!!!!
We are only here ONCE so for someone to have to live like that!!!

*living the dream* is such a western/1st world ideal tho. for many, to *live the dream* means selling yourself in some ways to get out of your cycle of poverty.
i know a lady who has two kids & has already organised arranged marriages for them (they're boys). she was talking to me about how busy her son was with school & sport & student council etc & how next year they weren't allowing him to do any of that. and i said, "well what if he wants to keep being on the council?"
her response? "i don't care, he'll do what we tell him to do."

i was DUMBFOUNDED to say the least.
