Yay Jodie, I was just starting to think that I was the only person that loved Bali....ha ha

I can see why people hate it, on my first trip in the first couple of days I didn't like it either but I was lucky to meet up with some people that I knew (friends of friends) and they showed us the ropes. Then I fell in love with the place, the Balinese can tell the newbies to Bali and definately give them the hard sell, but once they realise your wise to their ways they tend to leave you alone a lot more.....

I have always wondered about the horse riding over there Jodie have you been? Is it good?? I would love to take my daughter (she's the rider in the family) do they have plodders as well so if I wanted to go???

I wouldn't go to Bali out of principle.

Phuket is too touristy now . Have you thought of Ko Samui or Hua Hin in Thailand . My mums heading to Hua Hin in August, it's where the Thai Royal family spend their holidays. It's beaches are in the gulf of Thailand and it is a very lovely spot.

Or what about Fiji or Vanuatu?

Don't get me wrong, I also love Bali Hoping to go back at the end of the year. I find the people really friendly and welcoming. One of my friends is going to go live there next year for 6 months, very envious. She goes over to Bali every couple of months she loves it so much and has made so many friends over there

Loved Ko Samui as well but actually preferred Phuket, Ko Samui was lovely but a bit more quiet than Phuket. Not as much shopping/nightlife etc.

I remember when Kho Samui had no airports no hotels just one bar with a few little huts to rent for months at a time there...ahhh bring back those days! Getting there by train and boat was all part of the fun...

The airport there is my favourite airport I've ever been too though hehe, I couldn't believe it was an airport haha. It was like a hut

I love Bali. I spent two months over there last year surfing at G-land, Uluwatu and spent a month in Lombok at Desert Point. Lived with the locals in Lombok, it was brillo.

But I have done the usual tourist stuff also. Kuta. Sanur. Seminyak. Legian. Etc Etc. Learnt a bit of Indonesian, enough to get by. Love it, Love it, Love it

I havent been to Phuket so cant compare
