Default Help with Registering a TB

Hi guys

I am needing some info on registering a 2 year old Thoroughbred. He will eventually be raced. Both his sire and dam are registered.

I have looked at the ASB website but there is not a lot of info on there, the only thing I could see that is somewhat relevant is the "change of ownership of un-named horse" form. Is this what I need to do to start the process?

What other paperwork might I need? Should there be breeding certificates, or are they sent in by the stallion owner? Im not quite sure of the process, so if someone could enlighten me that would be very helpful!

Thanks!

Whoever bred the horse should have filled in a mare return. Do you the know the name of the dam.

She was served once to Afleetaffair in 2005 which means the foal would have just turned three. You will need to contact the breeder/owner of the mare Mr B and Mrs S Denham.
Tto do that you will have to contact the stud book.
The contact is jstewart@ajc.org.au they are really helpful and will help you sort it out. The horse will need to be DNA tested which is included in the $300. PM me if you would like more help. She is no longer being used as an asb broodmare and has been dropped from record.
Good Luck

Excellent. Thank you!

I have Dust and Dreams passport and it shows that she went to stud (Afleetaffair) on the 22/11/05. So that all fits...but youre giving me a scare with the age......served 22/11/05, foal born early november 2006....makes the foal now just turned 2? Not 3?

Because you found the mares service info, does this mean the mares return was sent in? Is it still $300?

Sorry got the amount of time mixed up lol. No I tracked the foal down through the dam. There was no return lodged so it will cost you $300.

And I might add a lot of energy and time lol. A foal I sold a couple of years ago hadnt been microchipped and supposedly it had been sent to me but I never recieved it. The new owner had a hell of a time proving firstly they were the owner and that I had never recieved the microchip. they have to be so careful.

Wow thank you very much for your help, Simbin

Would it make sense for me to ring the breeders (I have their details) and ask if a mare return can be sent in? Or is there a time limit? Might be too late? Can one be backdated?

If the mare is dropped from official record, does this mean they can still register this two year old?

Sorry for the millions of questions!
