Default Removing Ticks

U will need....

Qtip (cotton bud) whatever you happen to call them in your household.
Insecticide, Repelx or whatever equivelent you have.

Soak Qtip with insecticide. Dab offending tick with Q-tip, hold on until he is covered.

Tick dies and falls off.

Don't pull at them, when you start pulling at them it makes it worse. Just let them fall off.

Default Getting Hoof Black off skin

For removing hoof black off your hands before a show, use a cleaning product called "Blast Dissolver". For really stubborn stains, leave for a few mins, then rub off. Works a charm!

Thankyou to Khandikisses for letting me in on this little secret.

Any old cheap hair spray will take hoofblack of your hands too! I learnt that trick when some b*#$% apparently unintentionally *cough* spilt hoof black all over my grey pony just before his best presented class years and years ago! He went in a bit wet but not black!

Hairspray is also good for that last minute shine up over the el cheapo 'black it' or 'hoofblack' before you go in the ring

RID or Aeroguard is excellent for removing permanent black marker off of white boards or whatever, I'd hate to know what this stuff does to your skin!!

Wear thin laytex gloves when pulling tails and manes.......it gives you an amazing grip and your fingers don't get ripped to shreds.

Use washing up liquid on the front and sides of rugs to stop naughty horses or youngsters that chew or rip them off.Its good for trees and fence posts too.

Default Cleaning Silver on Tack

Windorah Farms and CJR both suggested using

TOOTHPASTE, for the silver detail on tack.

Scotchmel recommends a

PENSIL ERASER

Rather than spending a fortune on a grooming box, go down to the local bunnings and pick up a $20 toolbox. IDEAL for storing your grooming gear in, has plenty of room and compartments and they're tough and strong making it difficult for the horses to wreck and you can stand on them when plaiting up!

Default Keep sand off your blackened hooves

Put their hoof on a piece of floor laminate prior to painting. Then you won't end up with sand on their footsies or in the brush.
