Exclamation Torn Muscles

Has anyone had to deal with torn muscles in horses before? I never have, but my mare shiraz has a torn muscle in her hind leg hip area. She visited the vet about it and all we got told was rest and bute.

But i am wondering is there anything else we can do or maybe get some muscle therapy done??

anyways thanks

you need to leave the muscle for a little while before you start massaging it. To much to early can do more damage. But it is worth getting out an equine massage therapist to show you what to do and how often.

I did a human massage course and their recommendations were to massage every three days to help the fibres align right for strength and flexibility. It can make a real difference.
