Default Blood in Urine ????

Today a young girl came out with her pony for a lesson from Skito. The lesson went great, pony was super ....all good

After the lesson the pony gets walked around a bit & put in the stall while the young rider has a drink etc.

When its time to leave the young rider goes & gets her pony & puts him on the float & off they go.

Skito then takes Izzy for a ride & then decides to go clean the stall ...... only to find this

Just so you know, I had a vet out here with in 15minutes of finding this to take samples

So ......if you found this in your stall, would you think it was blood & have a mild panic

I will let you all know the pony is fine, but it was an interesting day, with an intersting result from the lab report

Ooohh! A Who-Dun-It!

Pretty sure it wasn't Miss Marple, in the Library with the Candle Stick...

A clue might be "...while the young rider has a drink etc."

So, spilt red cordial?

*and yes, I would have had a mild panic attack!*

I'd have recommended the finger-lick test before calling the vet - NOT my finger of course!!!

No not spilt red cordial LOL ...... but the vet did make a joke about feeding the pony concentrated red cordial LOL .....I assured the vet that the owners would not do that

The vet also said if this was a cow it would be quarantined .... but as it was a horse we would have to see what it was.

Did the pony get a kick ..... pony went well & showed no discomfort, so I thought not

Might have a kidney / urine infection

Might also be tying up, in which case it would not be blood but just colour .....but the pony showed no sign of stiffness, when it was here so I was a little baffled

Wel the vet agists 4 horses at my place so I see her every day & she was in town getting feed for her horses anyway, so not a drama to get her out

Oh I was sure NOT going to lick my finger after touching that

LMAO @ Trojane - very funny!

Must admit bladder infection immediately sprang to mind... but guess not. Hmmm...

Oh! Pony was wearing red boots, was hosed down after the lesson, and the red came off its legs??

well the thing is ..... I have had a kidney /bladder infection before & it is not very comfortable.

If the horse had an infection I would have thought it would have shown some distress.

He went about his lesson in his normal happy, willing self .....which is why I disregarded the kick scenario

The other thing that surprised my, was how could his young owner miss seeing this when she went into the stall to get him .....its not a little bit of urine , its alot & its not a little bit of blood ....its alot
