My last guess (unless I come up with another really cool idea!

Early sign of dehydration maybe?

Or something not related to the horse at all haha

OK .... the vet has come to the conclusion this is plant related.

Some plant pigments can go through the system unchanged, but some can change colour when its exposed to oxygen.

So, when his owner got him out of the stable the urine was yellow ....& when asked she said it just looked a bit thick & I thought he just needed a big drink.

However by the time Skito went back to clean the stall it had started to oxidise & change colour. When the vet was here it was still streaky, yet by the time we took the photos it is nearly all red.

The pony has no ill effects & we all learn't something.

No but there are a couple in this district that can do this.

It was suggest to try & get an uncontaminated urine sample ie catch it as it comes out, & get it tested to work out what plant is the culpret.

HA !!!

A little bit of fun it was not LOL !!!!!

Here we are finally at our first lesson back for Billie and she was so excited to have her Skito lessons again after all her recovery time ... and then when Skito calls us at home with the very bad news of all this blood in his wee ... we were like OMG I cannot believe this could go wrong now !!

Bronsinie is happy in his stable, rugged and chomping on his dinner .... we failed to get another wee pot filled (even though Billie sat and waited for ages with her feed scoop ready to catch it!!) .... so the curiosity of what plant still niggles us.

I did for a moment or two there wonder why on earth we always have the 'intersting' stories to tell !!

It was a worry for a while ... I dont think i will forget Skito saying ... its lots of blood ... streaks of it ... I am really worried about him ....
What a team them girls make ... they were straight onto the vet for us and helped us sort it out quickly with all the calmness us girls need at times of worry !!

Thankyou girls for a great day, great coffee, great lesson, great stress, great relief !!

We didn't mean to stress you Ninna LOL ..... but as you can see from the photos, it was pretty red. However when we first looked at it & when the vet was here there was still plenty of yellow with streaks of red, so it really looked like blood streaked urine.

Skito was pretty stressed when she came & got me, but Bronson did not show any indications of pain or illness ..... so was confusing.

By the time we took the photos it was even more bloody looking.

It was lovely to see you & Billie though, & great to see the B & B team back at it & looking great
