Default Head Wound **GRAFFIC PICS**updated 28 oct

Please be advised Im posting links to some graphic images of one of my geldings head injury on the weekend so if you have a queezy gut for blood dont look. No bone in images so thats a plus.

We loaded up to go to Onslow for races some 5-6hrs south of us Friday morning. We got to just outside Roebourne when the float rattled the car a little so we pulled over to see skin and a bit of blood threw the window over his eye. Unloaded the last horse in the middle of no where. Had a look nothing we could do whilst driving, had to load them back on quickly as some local brumby horses found our car and float interesting came galloping over flat out after a truck had tooted them off the road.

Got to Onslow eye blew up and he couldnt open it hole above on the top eye lid. Gave 20ml bute left him over night (no vet until race day as he flys/drives in too) swelling went down and you could see some of eye. Races were canned no vet.

Loaded up Sunday morning. Went to load last horse on and he layed down and then hit his head so thrashed about. Sliced head open more blood everywhere. Partition was knocked off its hindges. Again nothing we could actually do so loaded up quickly and drove home as quickly as we could also under curfew from the EI stuff.

Got home it already started to die and was dark (no power) so vet came today to cut and staple what she could. He reacted to the sleepy drug even though his had it before was covered in lumps and breathing got shallow and loud.

This is the progress photos.

oooh! Sheesh, poor baby!! You handled it very well - if it had been me I would have screamed/fainted at first sight - and with no vet too!

Hope the poor boy gets better soon. Hugs from me & Ezy coming his way!!

Wow that's shocking! The poor little bugger! It's amazing what horses can get themselves into!!!

All the best for a speedy recovery and many successful races ahead of him

Thats just a local anasthetic((spelling (thats the vets hand today))

The slice has come from where the rubber drop sheets join the partitions as there is a 2 foot gap at the front so you can walk under the front. Its hard to explain the rubber suits between 2 bit of metal and its rounded and well protected but its just not designed for horses to lay down and get up from under them either so I cant blame the float. Have no idea why he layed down. He has travelled with those 2 particular horses in the same positions alot and never once moved. Could of layed down after the first inciddent I guess.

Eye seems ok from what we could see some swelling in the corner but no dye lighting up parts of his eye so that was good. But the vet will come back thursday and check again got lots of goodies to put in and jab him with lol
