Hi all,
We took a few horses to WASJA over the weekend, one of which is our new mare Paris.
We are not sure how it happened, but she somehow got injured in the truck on the way home.
She is a very big girl, so we assume she somehow managed to do this damage on a divider that had mesh on it..........where we have never had any injurys in the truck before, somehow this happened. If we had realised we would have gone straight to murdock, however it was not until we got home & we lowered the tailgate that we found out that things were not good.
We are very lucky that our vet in Bunbury made the time to drive the 2 hours to get here to stictch her up.
Her prognosis is very good..........it looks really bad, but it is just muscle & skin. Apart form being upset to see this happen to any horse, it is particularly upsetting to see such a terrific mare get sidelined jsut as she starts her new career.
Donna jumped her in one class on Saturday.........her first track at her first outing & she was super. The good news is she will recover fully, the bad....that it happened at all.
I would like to thank Hutchy for coming out & giving me some moral support & Dr Alan Mc Greggor for coming out on his Sunday, to fix her up ......he is such a wonderful vet to us & I am very grateful for his support
so here is the damage.....before stitching....or part way through

and after ..........thanks Hutchy for even thinking to take photos

I am sure this wound will look far worse before it looks better, so I will take progression photos as we go
