If an horse is not moving well etc, I hope they consult a vet first and if they wish to go down the herbal path they talk to someone that is experienced with herbals. Celery also has no "preventative" effect, it is symptomatic at best and the number 1 rule of any treatment is to never treat with an agent unnecessarily.

No I will let Tony do the selling - but might consider hitting them myself!! Getting a bit stiff in the joints on the cold days!!

Any idea how they would work with laminitic ponies? I assume their nutrient content wouldn't affect them? Any ideas

SomeoneElse, could it be to do with Chinese unlucky numbers (4 is like our 13)? You have a very interesting vet reference. Are they granted religious status in USA? My mind isn't so open but it has a few cracks
Gidy up girl - have you found some info re celery seeds and laminitis? I don't know much about their nutrient content but would imagine as seeds they contain oils.

I can vouch for celery seed. I bought 500gms from the health food store for $2.75 and gave it to my border collie pup who's cruciate ligaments were on the verge of snapping. Within 6 months her movement had improved no end and she went on for another 12 months with no problems. Had she not have disappeared on the farm I would have been able to have her re-Xrayed to check the progress.

ok if you are interested in taking it your self then make a tea with the celery seeds you buy for your horse!, I know this sounds strange but I make a little bag out of fine material, fill with 25g seeds steep in 2ltr container hot water then have a glass myself before giving the rest to my horse it dosent taste the best but I drink it quickly, my joints now move and I have reduced pain so it is working on both me and my 20yr old mare

hey bubbles been in the same position as you I had to give up my soccer career but there was no way I would give up riding, so a combination of the celery tea once a day and swimming once a week (just walking around in waist deep water!for an hr) has really improved my flexability and reduced pain. also we always tend to our horses feet but rarely our own, get a pair of shoes that take the stress off your joints, some shoe places do the walk on the reader thingy, its worth it.
sorry to hijack

I've not had this problem and i feed them to my girl, she seems to drink a bit more but her urine doesn't smell any worse than normal.
