I had a mare not that long ago, she had blood noses every now and again. We had to put her down (not knowing exactly what was wrong with her but she was is major pain that couldn't be fixed), after she had slipped away the vet noticed that there was signs of liver cancer...best just to call your vet and check whats up...could be something in her nose or something even simpler, but best to check it out.

then its probly (s/p) just a simple blood nose. is it possible that she scratched a bit of her nose on the inside and when it gets bumped or she gets hot the scratch starts to bleed? or is there not a scratch?

Horses can be very clumsy! i was just doing some research on google and some horses get blood noses when they work and there is nothing wrong with them. It would be best if you wern't going to make a vet appointment (she may not need it) but just to keep note on how much she bleed, how often, if she has had new feed supplements (sounds weird but could be a side effect), if she has been swaying her head slightly or anything differant that she may be showing. I'm not a vet, but in research and articles i have read it will be best just to take not if its not too much blood to warrent a vet visit.

She may have cut inside her nose if its not coming out from far up. Maybe just call the vet and ask for advice, my horse has had 2 blood noses (that went on from 6 to 3 days on and off) however these were caused by 2 major blows to his head, not nice
