Nice pics Samm, love his face.

I know someone that had a pali foal born, started getting black hairs in the tail/mane so they were bleaching it.
The horse, mature now is a buckskin.
I dont understand it, but i saw the horse as a foal & while he grew up, lol.

Greys do have a weird thing going like that, even a chestnut will often get lots of black hairs before going grey. They aren't just red with white hairs. I had a pally going grey mare, that I actually bought thinking she was a buckskin. Dam when she went grey!!

The new isolation of the grey gene talks about how it works and why there possibly is black pigment coming in before they grey out. Techical stuff!!

Well I guess he's either a pally with smutty/sooty, or really was a bucky just took a while before the black points were noticeable!

I think she will roan out.

Som einteresting colour changes there guys. Wish I could find the pics of my first pony. He was a palouse, born jet Black with a small blanket, and has roaned right out with some really weird colour changes in between. He is now 22. Will post some pics when i find the photo albumn...

This is Chrome Marks when he was a week old, he looked like he was a bay & white



Chrome Marks again at 6 month, he is a dark chocolate taffy.


again last year, age 4 years old
