Cool

Morning all - sorry! It was a very long night (well and day) yesterday! Having trouble getting my photos through.

Well, all began with a bang.... mare is nearly a week overdue, I had my hospital appointment after a full working day (where Lee rang me & I missed her call). So after I got home did horses and tea was on, I gave my "midwife" a quick bell to see how Miss D was going - discussed symptoms and progress, but foalie still not in position, so didn't think there was much to report. Rang Lee to say nup not yet.... no answer (I did a lot of phone tag tonight!)

Sat down to eat my tea just on dark, and discussed having an early night as had been a particularly eventful day/afternoon and I was knackered. Next thing, my phone goes and it's my "midwife" who blurts out 'showtime...can't talk, must run'*klunk* I was left there going 1. Did she have right number? 2.I just spoke with her and we both agreed at least another day or more? So rang back and she simply said, get in the car!*klunk* (Takes me about an hour to get there give or take.) Shovel in rest of food, shove child into pj's and get going! Get the phone call - it's a chestnut filly, hope you're on your way! I do a happy dance, try Lee again (still no answer grrr ) into car with mother, child and off we go. All in all was a 'catcher's mitt' delivery!

Fairly straightforward delivery, foalie did all the right things, stayed down for a good few mins, then stood, drank, etc.

Miss D was very scatty after the birth, my Midi was kind enough to get some photos whilst foal was lying down (which is when I found out that was bay not chestnut). When I got there, she allowed us a brief look at gorgeous bubby, but then shepherded her off and said no more folks! She is a lovely dark-looking bay with (from what I could see in those brief glimpses) no white markings, perhaps just a tiny snip on her muzzle like her mum's.

As soon as I can make these photos work, I will post them.... sorry to keep you in suspense!

WAY too much excitement in one night for a pregnant woman LOL! Good thing I'm not closer to my DD!!

Thank you all for the well wishes - Lee too I hope there's no dangly bits that we missed in the dark!!! I like this breaking the boy streak bizzo!
