hmm i have a similar problem... not a full rear more like a little lunge forward and a flick of the head. The situation has MUCH improved over the past few weeks and i think its mainly a discipline thing with my pony, he is VERY cheeky and only does it once after he has been working a bit and i think its his way of saying Ok enough now cant we just cuddle? He is a VERY responsive pony so gets the message quickly that its work time and doesnt try again.... maybe your horse is thinking the same thing? Or he could be getting a bit tight towards the end and just wants to stop? Lunging is very strenuous work on the horse
