I started an old mare of mine on Omaguard at about the same time as you started yours Simbin. She scours dreadfully each winter and displays all ulcer type symptoms but has no envronmental, stress or feed conditions that would make me think ulcers. Anyway - on the 2nd day the scouring stopped, within 5 days her spirits lifted and apetite returned. I finished a 2 week course and am now trialling her on Kohnke's Gastrocoat - only because she has to return to my mums who can cope with administering powder, but not paste. Anyway - a week on Gastrocoat and no signs of the scouring returning.
I would say put him back on the full dose for another couple of weeks and give the ulcers a good chance of healing. I have also been feeding a lot of lucerne.
