hi,

ok well my big boy is a 16.2hh oldenburg with a big opion and character.

we where feeding him

livamol - 220g

coolmax- 4kg
rough cutt oaten chaff - 2x the 2l scoops

lucerne- 1x 2l scoop

and he was either out on 400 acres of grass with the cows or locked up in about 1.5acres getting 1/2 a square bale morning and night with 2-3 horses (it did have some grazing though limited)

he was extremley fat when he came to us so the above is what he was placed on after loosing some weight .

Not knowing he was hot headed.

We decided that it wasn't really giving him enough energy to go one day eventing etc he just seemed to run out of steam even though being fit ...

so we changed from the coolmax to liberty

every thing else the same as above

but with

liberty - 3kg

but with that he was okay

we added a bit of muslie about half a 2l scoop and it was ok until we took him out to a few ode's he got extremly heated up so we took him off this food and back to the coolmax and he seems ok now but he needs to put a bit more weight on but nothing heating at all !!

so we have thought maybe nutri rice allrounder would put condition on with ot heating him up at all and the cool max for energy but i was thinking about it and they are both complete feeds so i was wondering what people would suggest ...

but i dont want to feed pollard,bran or barley.

barley we tried for the weight before the liberty and it did not suit well we love barley and use it for all others that we are fattening up but he got heated up on it so.....

okay through some ideas at me im all open .....

oh before we got him he was on

1 biscuit of hay morning and night

oaten rough cutt chaff

lucerne chaff

1/2 scoop of hygain show torque

1/2 scoop of pegasus coolmax

but he was like an elephant

so.......
