Having spoken to people in America about 'sorrel' there is no real definition anyway. Most just use it as the name for chestnut. But others call light chestnuts, sorrels, some call flaxen chestnuts, sorrels. Some breeds have more of a definition than others.

My point is that they are all chestnut, just that some people call some of them sorrel! Usually american breeds
