Default Guinness : Project Standardbred

Hi all first post so i thought i would make it a good one

I don't know if anyone remembers Guinness? hes a very green 10yo 15.3 black standardbred (ex pacer). He is my first horse and i was given him to learn to ride on.

Long story short! the previous owner had left him in a paddock for quite some time, his feet hadn't been touched. He had ulcers all down his tongue and the inside of his mouth, no wonder the poor bugger tossed his head when u put the bit in.

We have come along way in the 4 or so months I've owned him, I have had his teeth done, and his feet are all trimmed and neat. I have worked on his manners (he doesn't boof ya with his head anymore), he can stand still under saddle, he now walks in a straight line! Yesterday we trotted a figure 8 of the entire arena at a slow steady trot.. it felt sooooo good. and im starting to get him to move of my legs more.

He is on 2 hard feeds morn/night and gets lots of hay.

His hard feeds are :

hygain showtorque, bran, copra, and oaten chaff

Here are some pictures:

When i got him:

Now:

As you can see he has lost a lot of the fat and has started to build muscle, these recent pics are about a month old, i will be taking some more either tonight or tomorrow with him under saddle.

My goal with Guinness is to eventually do Ode's and show days. we have our first show day at our agistment this w/e which should be good.

what does everyone think?
