I've been told I should enter Saxon in the Young dressage Horse competition but wonder whether I would be biting off more than I can chew.

It says that they should show correct education in line with the training scale and a desirable picture of the dressage horse. Emphasis for all is a good rhythm and then depending on the level of training contact, willingness to accept the bit, suppleness etc etc. Saxon has great rhythm and a free stride but is probably lacking in everything else after that (for now)! Contact a bit inconsistent still, flexion and bend nah, straightness um ...

How much is expected of the 4yos in these classes? (Lordy, can't believe Saxon is now technically 4!)

4yo only needs to be working prelim level- If you are happy at prelim level dressage- then give it a go :)
Its all about giving them experience in a competition environment**)

    5yo and 6yo is a bit harder tho :p
