Dessy was born bay, out of my Bay Roan mare by my Black Stallion. He is dropping his foal coat and the colour beneath is much darker BUT his tail is going a WHITE colour......

Thanks he is a bit ok...first colt by Hillswood High Flyer....might be for sale at weaning....thinking...thinking..

Thought I might get a colour guru on here to give some idea what colour he is...Sire of Dam was a Cream and Dam of Dam was a bay
Sire of Sire is a Black and Dam of sire was a black...

    So....ideas

So the sire has cream in his parentage? Could he be a black buckskin????? Which may explain the foals colouring, I think the foal maybe a buckskin.

The cream is the Dam's sire....I wondered about Buckskin...but the tail!!
    Interesting read wattle ';'

His body atm looks Bucky Roan, but the tail colouring would indicate Bucky Rabicano **) The characteristics are in the link :)

Wow....interesting....he does not have any white hairs ATM anywhere else except his tail...
We have had roan foals before and the white roaning usually starts at the rump when the foal coat drops....this guy has got darker with no white hairs anywhere except that interesting tail.....

I was told the Roans have the lighter guard hair around the tail, same as the duns/buckys.Not sure on whether a Roan can carry cream? But they have to carry cream to throw cream. So if a granparent has cream the foal will only have cream if mum or dad does.
