Just out of curiosity what would you feed a 16.2 hh throughbred being ridden everyday for 1/2 an hour to 45mins. Im all about keeping it simple. This horse is 24/7 sand paddocked. Would you suggest a hay roll 24/7 to occupy the horse?
Im looking for a hard feed (morning and night) that is simple but will also help keep the gut clear from sand. Exact quanities of feed would be great although I do realise that amount of feed does vary from horse to horse.

No problems with feeding ad lib hay with TBs as it's the most natural way to feed, mine tend to go silly for the first day of a new bale then slow down. They still have access to a full bale even if they have grass.

  3. Put him on a medow hay roll 24/7 and hard feed twice a day with soaked lupins and a bit of oil:)

You will probably find that everyone will have different ideas here lol.

I agree that a hay roll is a great way to go if he's on sand. If in work I'd add hard feed of lucerne chaff and 500g-1kg of hygain balanced per day to cover all his vit/mineral needs :)
