Strained something this morning during training.

Only got the last bit that he wont be racing.

Efficient sustained a leg injury at training this morning - apparently he could be out for 12 months with it so I guess it might be a tendon injury. Sad for Aus as he was rated as one of the best aussie chances against the overseas horses.

Yellowstone hasn't officially scratched although apparently looks like it's been in the wars with scratches from being cast in his stable. They worked him this morning lightly and he recovered ok from that so I wouldn't rule the horse out yet. They have until Saturday morning to decide I think.

The only WA trained horse is Guyno who didn't get a great run in the Geelong cup although connections say he is fit and ready to move up from that performance. I guess we'll see - good luck to him!

I'll give my thoughts closer to the race .

I hope that Efficient gets better that way he can still race next year some time. I hope that there arent too many injuries in the lead up to the race that stops the nation.

Efficent Bowed its tendon apparently. Couldn't believe it when I was told.

Yeah, I think it's Lou Luiciani with Guyno - I personally don't think it will do much in the cup not compared to some of the horses that are already in it! But it's a horse race..

Cant see Guyno coming into contention but good luck to Louie anyway for having a crack....thats what its all about.....

All the good scans have come back clear so theres a chance still may run..unexplained lameness at this stage.

Yeah, that's what I thought too. Considering there are horses in there that have on Caulfield ( or placed ) Or the cox plate.. And then good international horses I personnally can't even see Guyno doing well. He didn't even win the Geelong cup did he?

But, he is from WA. It's a heck of a lot of work to get him to this stage and good on Lou for having a go! **)**)

Yep most definately spid....to team Luciano.....GO GUYS GIVE IT YA BEST SHOT!....will chuck a buck or two each way to be patriotic, after all, i back West Aus jockeys on principle too - although i do think Guyno is outclassed good on his connections for making the dream come true. To win a melbourne cup is the holy grail, to say your horse ran in one is truly a great achievement too. Dedication, courage and the throw your hat into the ring take on all comers attitude is what racings all about.

Should also make mention of the monumental Cox win for Maldivians WEST AUSSIE Owners who took one on the chin ( A BIG ONE) last year with the barrier incident but rolled with the punches, never gave up and went back til their crowded hour arrived.

Pity i wont be able to see it....i hear drums in a jungle calling......

Ok, I just found out something about horse racing I never knew.

With the melbourne cup they have second and third rounds right? how do they go about narrowing the fields down to get the final horses for the race and when do they make the final selection?

Is this the normal line up for most races or how do they make selection of the horses?
