The HPC - Bob and Michele Wilkie Rider Scholarship 2015

The HPC Bob and Michele Wilkie Scholarship has been created in recognition of the Wilkie?s long standing involvement at the Club.

Both Bob and Michele are life members of the club and have served in many roles within the club during their association with Horsemens.

After many years of exceptional service, volunteerism, coaching and rider mentoring at not only club level, but also at PCAWA, State and National levels it was decided that Bob and Michele?s service to the Pony Club movement in Western Australia should be recognised further. The creation of this scholarship program will ensure that the Wilkie?s passion and drive for the club and for the pony club movement will be continued well into the future.

Horsemen?s Pony Club is a vibrant and modern club that has a proud history. As one of the oldest pony clubs in Western Australia and also a founding member of PCAWA we are looking to continue our proud standing in the pony club movement. Horsemen?s riders have competed at State, National, international and including Olympic representation levels. The club is well appointed and well equipped for all rider?s needs and levels.

If you are a promising rider and are actively competitive in your riding discipline, you are encouraged to apply for a scholarship. The scholarships are open to all riders between the ages of 12 to 24 years of age ? as of the 1st of January 2015.

Applicants cannot be current members of Horsemens Pony Club nor can they have been a financial member for the previous two (2) year period.
All applicants will need to complete the ?Bob & Michele Wilkie Scholarship? application form (available from the HPC website). All applications will need to be emailed to the club ? no other form of application accepted. All applications must be received by the nominated application deadline
In 2015 there is up to 10 scholarships available in the inaugural year of the Scholarship. Not all of these may be awarded and will depend on the amount of interest and quality of applicants. Horsemens Pony Club reserves the right to either award all of these scholarships or reduce the amount of scholarships as it deems necessary. Horsemens Pony Club is not simply offering free membership ? we are aiming to build a team of extremely capable riders that are actively competitive in their chosen equestrian disciplines with the view to represent the club at State, National and possibly International level in the near future.
All applicants will be reviewed by a scholarship panel appointed by the management committee of Horsemens Pony Club.

The review process will take into consideration the applicants:

? Ability (as viewed by the panel).
    ? Level of competition.
    ? Prior achievements.
    ? Applicants preferred equestrian disciplines.
? Potential (based on horse and rider combinations).

The Bob & Michele Wilkie Scholarship 2015 will provide the successful applicants -

Applicants will still need to pay the PCAWA insurance levy ($130.00)
