I'm looking at purchasing a new helmet online and have noticed a lot of them are to safety standard EN 1384. Is this the equivalent of AUS/NZ 3838 and if so would it pass gear check at a show?

Helmets which have the BS "kite mark" and EN 1384 are equivalent to ASNZ 3838 but there are some helmets which state they meet EN 1384 standards but they do not have the BS "kite mark" - these are not equivalent and are not acceptable here so be careful.

Warren is correct - must be BS Kitemark in addition to EN to be as equivalent to the Australian standard.

Just remember, that in each country, they have their own different standards boards. And standards that may be passable in one country may not be the same as Australia. Also, to pass certain standards the products must undergo tests - not every country tests for the same thing.
