Touchstone Farm's first season stallion Flying Pegasus was quick off the mark recording his first winner at Belmont on Saturday with the appropriately named Absolute Cracker.

Trained at Ascot by Trevor Andrews, Absolute Cracker scored a hard earned short-neck all the way victory in a field of 14 starters over 1000 metres.

She got a bit lost out in front but she fought on well, Andrews told Perth Racing. She?s a sound horse and a very nice filly."

A $50,000 purchase from the Heytesbury Stud consignment at the Magic Millions Perth Yearling sale, Absolute Cracker is the tenth foal of WATC Sires' Produce Stakes (G3) winner Arabella (Belele).

Andrews revealed he first saw the filly at Heytesbury Stud then rang his associates at Touchstone Farm and said Ive got an absolute cracker.

Ive got another three or four of his progeny back home and theyre all flashy types. He has a big future as a stallion.

A debut winner at Warwick Farm, Flying Pegasus finished second to Domesday in the Silver Slipper Stakes. He then captured the Group 3 Kindergarten Stakes defeating the Group 1 winning filly Mnemosyne. Perhaps his most significant victory came in the Group 2 Royal Sovereign Stakes at three where he demolished a top-class field that included multiple Group 1 winner Racing To Win.

A most handsome son of Kentucky Derby hero Fusaichi Pegasus (USA), Flying Pegasus lacks for little on his female side being out of the Group 2 winning Danehill mare Cashier.

Flying Pegasus stands at Touchstone Farm at a fee of $8,800.
