My boy is coughing, it's a deep dry cough, possibly related to allergies and vet thinks progressing towards an infection this time. So he is on Mucoprim antibiotic power for respiratory infections. He is happy, bit quiet, temp, resps, gum etc all normal. Eating, drinking as normal. Had the cough about a week. Started Mucoprim last night. During the dry summer of 2010/2011 he had a similar problem, was scoped and had a lung wash which came up allergies (we had dusty hay the time that I was feeding as a roll) removed the cause and had major improvement. Just thought it worth putting up a thread to see if anyone else is having similar issues. I think it might be hay related. So am soaking hay to see if makes a difference. Then plan a process of elimination. He is a on simple hard feed of lucerne & wheaten chaffs, sunflower seeds, lupins, khonkes cell provide. Compressed oaten hay which I admit isn't the quality it should be. But as everyone else is just coping with the hay quality this year or lack thereof.. Really hoping for a super hay year this year!!! Any thoughts? Has anyone found any other ways to manage and/or feed supplements that can assist with these problems long term?
