I'm curious to know why none of the committee have come out and answered the big question here: ARE THE JUDGES GOING TO BE NAMED BEFORE THE SHOW??? Ok so the majority of us already know who it is, but that's really not the point here. This whole thing is just so ridiculous! Members should not allow committees to get away with this kind of thing or where does it end?
I think we all need to make sure we attend the next AGM and make sure some serious changes happen.

Well said JPH **) Have put off going to the AGM cause I'm not really interested in the politics of it all, BUT, will definately be going to the next one

As for the Royal not being one of the major shows, I totally disagree, It is just unfortunate that it is held during the week and not everyone is able to take time off work. I have not missed a Royal in over 10 years (*#) I need a life hehe) IMO people should be supporting this show, as numbers have dropped in the last couple of years and we sure don't want to lose our classes

I go to the Royal. But don't see how a judge who is expected to judge 1/3 of the breeds competing is a breed specialist for every breed they judge

Mirawee I can assure you that the judge for the Royal has worked very hard over a lot of years to gain all her qualifications and really does know arabians. They are her main passion but she is also a lover of all breeds of horses.

@) ok ppls please sit back and have a think.

Are any of you going to put your hands up and go on a / or this Comittee ?? this ridicule has been going on for years ! and we've seen C.Members...good ones at that... come and go because NONE of them can fit YOUR shoes !

Have you thought that the ppls or Person whom have contacted previous judges..went to the extent of "STORKING" ???

If I was a judge and had this kind of behaviour I would NEVER go to "that" place and Judge !!!

Is this one of the reasons the Comittee has maybe made this dicision ???

    Cheers Lee..a non-comittee member ;)

    Hi Everyone,

Just a final say from me on this ridiculous issue.

Perhaps there is maybe one way to solve bias and cheating................

    A 3 judge system!

I have always believed this is the way to go at A AA and AAA shows.

Maybe one international and 2 Aussie judges? If finances are a problem, which I dont think they are, we need to come up with more ways to attract new members and keep the old ones!

We need to stop this nonsense and get on with promoting and showing off our beautiful horses.
Just a thought................Would love to hear peoples input on a 3 judge system, pros and cons........
    Cheers

Just a suggestion... but perhaps the problem isnt so much that the identity is anonymous, but more that the committee is keeping it from them, like dangling a carrot, to have committee members come in and comment like "oh I know who it is ner ner" like little children, thats what makes me think what the hell is going on with the WAAHA these days. If there is an issue with members contacting judges, and this is having an effect on the judges decision, I would be more inclined to think the problem lay with the judges integrity. Keeping it from the members is only causing more problems and not really solving any.

    Just an uneducated observation :)

Hang on people I believe this is getting a little out of hand. Committee members are volunteers who have the breed interest at heart. THAT IS WHY THEY ARE VOTED ON BY THE MEMBERS IF YOU DON”T LIKE VOTE YOURSELF OR SOMEONE ON>

All you people who go talking about COMMITTEE MEMBERS and they can't get away with this, well where are you, helping at Shows, promoting the breed or for that matter come to a committee meeting and vote and have the balls to stand up and say something if you don’t like it or believe a change needs to be made. Last 3 AGM have been low in numbers. You are all talk. A few of us do say something but other members are not there to make a change that may be needed. But No you all don't, just get on these chat lines and complain or complain in social groups..WONT RE NEW MY MEMBERSHIP BECAUSE??????. Not on i say.

We as the Arabian breed have rules in place re contact with judges and you can't compete if you have done business with in 3 months. Half of this discussion discredits our judges before they even get here. Don't forget they also do it because the love of it too. Doesn’t pay the bills. Whether this decison this committee is right or wrong but it should be repected. Has any of you contacted a committee member and truely asked the question no you set up baits Why have they not answered the question oh because they spend so much of their time reading stockyard.

The committees do the best they can with what they have and I believe it has always been for the best interest of the club whether a % of people didn’t agree oh that is because it was not in the best interest for them and them alone.

Committee members but hours and hours in to the breed, running shows, Promoting so the members have something to go in and enjoy. And it always seems it is never good enough. No wonder people walk away from it disgruntled and unappreciated for all the work that is but in it for you the Arabian Members and our for our Arabian Horses.

I am sorry if this may offend but being a ex committee member and show trainer and breeder for 21 years alone and my family for 40 years next year, this is an insult to all the Arabian Breed people because theses comments degrades our Arabian people and our Arabian Industry.

This is another part of the problem I think... how can you know if you can enter a show or not because you may or may not know the judge if you don't know who the judge is????

Well im new into the Arabs, i think everyone should know who is judging.

I know from show horse scene over the years there has been many remarks about such and such contacts the judge - how true who knows. If competitors have to stoop to that level really - they are only buying the ribbons anyway.

A good horse is going to win regardless of if the judges names are let out now or after close of entries.

Im intending on taking my Arabian pony gelding and Arabian pony stallion.

Good luck everyone, hope it is a nice show!!!

one more question, i joined the Australian Arab society. Am i better to join the WA society?

What advantages is there for me to be a member of the Australian rather than the WA one?

Scorpio, if your breeding you need to be a member of AHSA, the WAAHA is only a branch off of AHSA, and the benefits from memory is not paying the insurance fee's at shows, which is only a benefit if you show more than 3 times a year :) (although may have changed as i;ve let my membership lapse now )

Being on any type of board, committee, even the school tuck shop LOL Can be stressful. I certainly no first hand how organising events are very hard work and stressful. So why would you add the stress of causing this type of uproar for yourselves??? And lets face it, not everyone does the job for the absolute love of it, sometimes its a benefit to be on a committee, especially when you have inside information. Same as those that get involved with their shire & suddenly they have their land developed easier.

As for citygirls comment; I see people get on these committees alone only to find their one voice and all the original members drown them out and that’s why people just don’t bother, its not that people don’t want to get involved or put the time in themselves, its that they know alone they stand little chance of making a change. So I suggest if you want to make a noise get together and stack the next meeting, get on the board and make those changes, go in with more than one or two voices.
